India has over 40 central universities, around 300 state universities, 150 deemed universities and 100 private universities. In total around 550 universities offer doctoral degrees in various discipline. It is difficult to keep tab of the admission schedules, processes, and availability of PhD guides.
Given the urgency of acquiring PhD for retaining teaching jobs and also becoming elgibile for research grants to undertake research, it is critical to optimize the available resources through availability and ease of access to information.
